In the 1780s in rural Virginia, an impoverished, pretty young lady named Isidora must write novels under a pseudonym to prevent her little sister from entering a loveless marriage. But a rugged, strong-willed young farmer named Artemas has other plans. Complications arise when he wants to marry her and at the same time become a writer. Will Isidora overcome her challenges, or will she fall for Artemas via contrived visits to each others homes and awkward small talk after church?
